Kayl's swim lessons were the half hour before Sean's this year - at her request - so that she would have the time necessary to shower up and do her hair without rushing.
Kayl is very comfortable with the back crawl, but still working on putting her face in the water as she does the front crawl.
She has no problem with the stroke and with the kick, nor with being away from the wall or touching the bottom for long periods of time, just doesn't do the side breathing thing yet.
She still has a little fear of getting water up her nose. She holds it to dive under, and keeps her head above when she swims. Doesn't seem to slow her much, however...
She was the fastest swimmer in her group, and could go the furthest, but was the only one of them that wouldn't keep her head down.
During one part of the lessons, they learned how to do a somersault under water.
Kayl could actually do it - she just held her nose with one hand!
We like these swim lessons, since they are small (4-6 kids per instructor), and taught by young(ish) adults. (They all looked to be 17-24.) Here Kayl and her class listen to their instructor before starting the next activity.
Ah... Just lounging in the pool!
Now for a little work on my stroke...
The instructor would have them reach for the board each time to encourage them to use the full arm swing.
Kayl did really well with this aspect, but still didn't get her face down in the water. Oh well, it will come with time.
At the end of the final lesson for the week, they opened up the big slide and let the kids have a run down it.

Still, Kayl did have a great time!
And the rushing water doesn't seem to bother her.
You can't really see it in this shot, but when she does swim with her face in the water, her right hand is up there holding her nose.
She'd much rather switch over and swim on her back - she loves this one!!
At least she loves being in the water and swimming!
