This is Kayl's team of four during one of the tests. The family had to sit in the back and remain quiet throughout. Fortunately, with a zoom lens you can sneak a pic in now and then!
Here's the team after they finished.
After the team testing, there was a bit of down time while all the scores were being added up. Kids got to go up to the mic and tell jokes, while their peers watched.
Kayl even got up the nerve to go try one. She got a few laughs, too!
Time to get the team together for another pic. This was one of four teams of 4 that Truman had entered.
Kayl surprised us all when she placed 6th in her division (out of about 80 kids) for the individual testing! Only the top 6 got trophies, and three of them went to her and her teammates.
The kids are waiting anxiously to hear the team results...
And Division I first place is...Truman!!!!!
A plaque for the school and ribbons for all of the team members.
Here's the (very excited) whole Truman team! Congratulations to all of the kids and their coach!!
Here Kayl is showing off her 6th place individual trophy and her team 1st place ribbon. Now the top four finishers from her school (including Kayl) will get to go to the "Master" (or state) competition.
After the competition, we figured a celebration was in order. Our favorite celebration spot? Ice Cream Renaissance!!
We order the "I Need Excess", and take turns picking the 9 kinds of ice cream and five toppings (with the victory girl getting to pick the extras!). This night we ended up with Coconut Luau, Peanut Butter Blitz, Orange Dream, Orango Mango Sorbet, Razionberry Sorbet, Caramel Lava Cake, Bitter-Sweet Chocolate Love Affair, Cookies 'n Cream and Old Fashioned Milk Chocolate covered with almonds, hot fudge, baby M&M's, marshmallow cream and caramel!!
Towards the end, first Mary, then me, then even Sean gave out, and Kayl got to finish her victory plate all by herself!
